With over 8 years of classroom experience, and the desire to provide all students with an excellent education, I am self-confident in my ability to be accepted to your University. I also want to increase my abilities in the teaching process through working with undergraduate students.

My teaching career has been oriented toward the elementary school children and teenagers. I love educating my students from all ages by helping them to be responsible, helpful, and successful persons.
I started teaching English when I was in third semester of the BA in ELT in the “Programa Nacional de Inglés de Educación Básica program (PNIEB), so I was introduced to the teaching environment in which I obtained experience. Through the whole major and master in Linguistics, I had the opportunity to teach different groups of students, including those who are poor persons, and those who demonstrated low level in English. I also gave private classes at home. I also taught 4th, 5thand 6th grade at “Primaria Marista”. Finally, I worked at Universidad del Valle de México high school. As a result, I have become a proficient teacher and my achievement was to keep my students interested and involved in the language learning process.

My greatest strengths include inspiring and motivating my students by getting them involved in different activities through the use of common approaches and methods in the learning process. I still want to use what I have learned in order to improve my performance as a teacher. I would really like to be part of your school team. The personal qualities and skills that I have acquired will surely help fulfilling the essential requirements to be working at the University of Manchester.

 MEMORANDUM

TO: English teachers from the “Instituto Alpes”
FROM: Main principal
DATE: September 2, 2011
SUBJECT: Third academic meeting

The purpose of this memo is to provide a summary of our Third academic meeting. The meeting is going to be on Monday, September 17.  This meeting is going to be focused on the use of projectors inside the English classroom. As you can see, our students need to be in the vanguard of technology so that they can interact with technological issues inside the classroom by doing activities that involve speaking, reading, listening, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation skills. In this way, teachers must totally agree in using those technological tools. I also want you to communicate that there is going to be a special training for using projectors inside our classrooms. During the meeting we are going to discuss this point and other ones that are really important in this new academic project. Although many of you do not agree with using projectors, I invite you to take it into consideration because is going to be a good opportunity to develop your teaching methods even the teaching process and students will be well-prepared when learning through technological activities.

Using projectors inside the classroom will be advantageous for the following reasons:
·         Students will be able to work through technology
·         Teachers will be able to design activities through technology
·         Students will be able to do presentations through the computer
·         Classes will be less boring and more interactive
·         Reducing time in class

I hope all the English teachers can attend to this meeting. It is important for you to be there in order to clarify doubts and comments you might have. I request you to consider this meeting and to participate as much as you can. You need to confirm your attendance before Tuesday, September 15. If you have any doubt, please feel free to inform me orally or in writing.

Thank you,

Lic. Carlos Martínez González

BELATED THANKS FOR A GIFT

Dear Mr. González,

Please accept my belated thanks for the delicious Serranos’ ham you brought for me from Seville, Spain! I had not had enough time to write before because I was really busy at school.
I really enjoyed a lot the Serrano’s ham. Last week I cooked dinner and I prepared “Spanish tapas”. All my family said that this was the Serrano’s ham they have ever tasted, so imagine the quality of this ham. I am planning to invite you and your family to my house to taste a special dish made with Serrano ham. It is going to be a nice gesture to have you in my home.
Thank you very much, Mr. González, for your concern and for your delicious ham.

Sincerely,

Karla Santacruz Sotomayor.

BEING A FRIEND THANK -YOU NOTE

Dear Cecilia,

This note says how much I appreciate your love and concern for listening to me the other day we went out to the coffee. I was really depressed about fighting with Mónica. I know we have not a lot of in common and it is silly to argue with her but I felt really angry about all the bad things she said.
However, you know how to get along with people and this is what makes you a good friend because your trust never fails. I also want to thank you for all the good advice you gave me, I really take it into consideration, so next time I am going to think what I am going to do in order not to fight again. It is great to have you as my best friend. I expect to have your friendship for many years.

Love always,

Karla
