Are all the countries different in the world?
There is no country which is exactly the same because each one is unique with its own characteristics such as, history, food, language, customs, flag, etc. However, countries sometimes share similar things that make them seem to be the same even they are located in different continent.
When people are planning their vacations to Europe, the most common visited countries are Spain and France. These countries are well known for their splendid baroque architecture, the superb and amazing places to visit, the delicious and sophisticated food, historical background and cultural activities.

It is known that Spain and France are located in the European continent. Spain is located in the South Western Europe on the Iberian Peninsula, as well as in the Mediterranean Sea in the east, and the Atlantic Ocean. Likewise, France is located in Western Europe nation among the Mediterranean Sea in the southeast, the English Channel in the north and west, and the Atlantic Ocean in the east. One similarity between these countries is their size; both countries Spain and France are too extensive and they cover almost a quarter part of Europe; however, France is a little bit extensive than Spain. France has a total area of 547,030 square kilometers (211,208 square miles). In contrast, Spain has 504,782 square kilometer (194,896 square mile) territory. (Encyclopedia of the nations).

Although several and different languages are spoken around the world, each country has its own language roots. Similarly, Spain and France have the same language roots, they come from the Latin, so both languages are considered as “romantic”, but French language is officially the most romantic and elegant spoken language around the world.
Spanish is the official language in Spain; on the other hand, French is considered as official language in France. Moreover, both languages Spanish and French have regional languages, For example, some Spanish people speak Basque in the Basque country and Navarre; Catalan in Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and Valencia; and Galician in Galicia. Unlike Spain, Breton, Provenzal and Patois (main dialects spoken in France) are spoken mainly in Bretagne, Normandie, Picardie and Rhône-Alpes regions. Globally, Spain is the second spoken language around the world, while French is the third one.

Even though Spain and France are located in the same continent and they are close together, it is not the same when people sightseeing the main cities because of the culture, climate and activities. Spain and France have plenty of cities to visit. Spain has important cities that are part of the Spanish heart. The most visited ones are Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Ibiza and Valencia. Each city offers different types of activities to enjoy. For example, If you like taking a walk and sightseeing museums, you need to visit Madrid where you can go to The Prado museum, Puerta de Alcalá, Palacio Real and superb restaurants, but if you like sunny days, you can visit Valencia and Ibiza where are beautiful beaches; likewise, you can enjoy clubbing, swimming, surfing and playing in different places. On the contrary, French cities are old, gothic, and more elegant than Spain. If you like to see the brightly lights, big castles, baroque architecture and green gardens, you should go to Paris, Marseille, and Bordeaux because they are very romantic and wonderful cities where you can appreciate the best art and loyal people, but if you want to relax and see the natural landscapes, you can visit Lyon, Champagne, Bretagne and Normandie, four amazing cities where there are interesting history, exciting vineyards and delicious cuisine; however, if you want to admire the sunset and feel the breeze as same as in Spain, you should go to Cannes, Nice and Corse, three beaches where you can rest in luxury hotels, fishing, swimming and eating fresh seafood.

It is always very important to know some aspects before going on vacation because it is useful to compare and contrast the information that we find on a magazine, book, internet etc. This will allow us to have more specific information in order to see what place is better and what is worse. In this case, Spain and France are amazing places to visit; each one has differences as well as similarities so I invite you to plan an exciting vacation in order not to miss the opportunity to discover a great adventure in the old continent.

III.                Pro argument 2

IV.                Pro argument 3
C.      Uniforms would help make students to feel equal
1.       It causes distractions.
V.                  Counterargument and refutation
D.      School uniforms cannot express the students’ individuality
VI.                Conclusion

Individualism is a fundamental value around the world. Most people believe in the right to express their own opinion without fear of punishment. This value is proposed in an unlikely place: the school. The issue is the school uniforms that students usually wear when they go to that academic place. We know that school uniforms do not improve and change the school environment but at least make students to be orderly and well-presented when they attend their classes, even when there is a special event or meeting. Should school students be required to wear a uniform? School uniforms are the better choice for three reasons; although there is one counterargument that is against with what I argue in this essay.

First, wearing school uniforms would help make students’ lives simpler. They would not have to decide what to wear every morning when they wake up to go to school. Sometimes, students try to find the correct outfit in order to be fashioned. Likewise, uniforms would not only save time but also would eliminate the stress associated with finding an appropriate clothing to be well-presented. Wearing uniforms also save parent’s budget because some students tend to buy more and more clothing in order to be fashioned or just because they do not want to repeat the same clothing, so wearing uniform allows not to waste money in every clothing season.
Similarly, some students would not be embarrassed because of their clothes if their parents were not able to buy them the newest fad.

Second, school uniforms influence students to be responsible individually or in group and they promote good discipline inside the classroom and the school in the same way. Uniforms give students the message that school is a special place for learning. In addition, uniforms create a feeling of unity among students and teachers. For example, when students do something as a group, such as attending meetings in the auditorium, presentations, parades, academic celebrations, and so on, the fact that they wear the same clothing would create a sense of community and union with the school. Regarding the discipline, I consider it as important aspect because students tend to be tidy when wearing uniforms and also they demonstrate cleanliness which is good because it means they tend to follow every single rule into the school and it makes students to be aware of what the institution is asking for. I think that discipline is an important factor that need to be linked with the human being because if we are not disciplined, we cannot be what we want to be in order to do our best.

Finally, school uniforms would help make all the students feel equal. People’s standards of living argue and differ deeply, and some people are wealthy while others are not, so it causes lots of problems among the students. Sometimes people forget that school is a place to go to study, not to promote a fashion show; therefore, uniforms cause distraction among the students because they tend to criticize others in order to see if someone else has money or brand clothing so it causes frustration and students might feel bad because of lack of money. Implementing mandatory school uniforms would make all the students look the same regardless of their financial situation. School uniforms would promote help to raise the self-esteem of students who cannot wear fashioned clothes.

Opponents of mandatory uniforms say that students who wear school uniforms cannot express their individuality, they way they usually are. This point has a pro on what I was discussing before. However, a school is a place to learn, no to show wealth and fashion; furthermore, society must decide if individual expression through clothing is more important than improved educational performance. It is important to remember that school uniforms would be worn just during school hours. On the other hand, students can express their identity in the way they wear outside of the classroom.

To conclude, there are plenty of benefits to implementing mandatory school uniforms for students. I consider that wearing a uniform makes students more responsible and disciplined and for the ones who cannot be outfitted is better because they avoid gossiping and criticism among other students.

Going to Puerto Vallarta
When people want to take a long or short break, they normally find the appropriate way to go to relax and lave their worries behind. Therefore, there are many places to go to in order to enjoy a perfect vacation. One of these superb attractive and lovely places is the gigantic, broad, turquoise, and crystalline sea which has beautiful, charming, and cozy beaches. Vacationing at the beach is one of the best pleasures for people to get involved into the nature so that they discover a number of great optional activities to enjoy.
I have always been fascinated by spending a splendid vacation on the beach. It amazes me how pleasant and agreeable is getting a good time through the multi-hued blue waters and feeling the fresh, soft and smooth breeze when I am taking a warm sunbath. The beach is a beautiful landscape of wide sandy beach framed by hazel and greenish hills and featuring dazzling sapphire, emerald and energetic blue water in which the depth of the sea raises its dense water in order to form enormous and curved waves that makes people excited when seeing the surfers evading this amazing phenomenon. I remember this special perfumed and fishy smell that made me feel as if I were living in the sea like a mermaid by touching the whole sea crust.
The natural beauty of the beach, in this case Puerto Vallarta, has to do with enjoying the bright and exuberant peach magenta sunset which people can feel peace inside their souls and when the sun is totally banished from their sight, they start laughing as if it were their last minute of life, because being in front of the sea and looking at the sky when the sun light is gone, is one of the best moments in the world.
My experience in Puerto Vallarta was unforgettable. I went there on July, 2011 with my best old friends. We had really fun because the hotel in which we stayed was all inclusive so we took advantage of this amazing program that offered us a wide variety of restaurants, bars, entertainment, amenities and superb accommodations. The hotel’s name is “Canto del Sol” in which guests enjoy the warm sparkling waters of the Pacific Ocean against the lush tropical backdrop of the Sierra Madre mountains.
Regarding the variety of restaurants, I would like to sat that every place in which we having breakfast, lunch and dinner was stunned. I still smelling the delicious aroma of food and the oily, spongy, and fresh taste of this delicious shrimp cocktail that I used to eat after swimming during the morning. When my friend and I went to have dinner, we used to choose the perfect dish to enjoy. The last night, we went to an elegant and prestigious restaurant called “Los Cántaros” in which food is really sophisticated and elaborated. Chefs from this place say that once you get into the restaurant you will not able to get out; therefore when I proved that theory, I was really surprised because I did not want to go, I just wanted to keep eating and drinking fine wine.
The menu was saturated of delightful food and glamorous and pleasant wine. This night, my dinner was composed of softly and exquisite mushroom salad as an entrée, then I ordered a delicious, row and fishy salmon with fresh vegetables and finally the dessert was the best mousse I have ever eaten, I ordered a chocolate mousse called “Opera”. It is made of dark and hard chocolate which tasted like a glory! It killed me! I loved it!
People have to take into consideration choosing where the appropriate place to spend a good vacation is, therefore I invite you to escape from your daily routine, and discover the magnificent beach of Puerto Vallarta!

Because I am as I am

I look back on what I have lived and I am surprised of all the beautiful things I have. Thoughts that come to my memory every single minute make me feel a successful person and I am proud of myself. Life gives us everything we want to have on our hands but we need to be sure about what we want to obtain in our lives because anything is imposible.
I consider myself as a clam, sincerely and easy going person who wants to be stand out in every handicap that life presents to me because I am as I am because of all the achievements I obtained by myself and they have taught me that if you want something in like, you must fight untill you got it. My name is Karla Santacruz Sotomayor. I was born in the city of termal spring: Aguascalientes, México. My birthday is on June 24th. I am 24 years old. I like running at the evening, reading interesting articles such as, culture, sports, history, nature, food, I like going out with my family and friends, I like helping poor people, I like laughing a lot, being responsible and I love teaching. I do not like fights, junk food, singing, and sleeping late. My family is integrated by one sister and one brother. I am the youngest in my family.  I live with my two siblings and my mom. We always try to get along well among us.
Talking about the past can be fun or boring. It depends on what experiences come to your mind. Regarding trips, I love going out everywhere. I enjoy travelling with my mom’s familiy because we always had fun together. Last year, we went to Guanajuato and we visited the “Bicentenario fair” in Silao, Guanajuato and we also went to San Miguel de Allende to see the beautiful gothic chapel. The last day we spent in Guanajuato, we were sightseeing around the downtown, we went eating out in a nice restaurant near the “Teatro Juarez”. After eating, we climbed to the Pipila’s monument to see the beautiful view of Guanajuato city. Then, we were walking through the alleys to see how beautiful the city’s architecture is. Finally, my family and I got on the bus to go to the hotel. Getting on the bus was really funny because we were 15 people on the bus and all of them were my familiy so we did a lot of mess and the driver told us to shut up.
Regarding Christmas time, it is my favorite celebration during the year. Christmas is more than gifts, shopping, candy and money; Christmas is a time where we share our feelings and happiness with the family together. In my family, we used to celebrate Christmas in my grandama’s house where all my familiy prepared delicious dinner and brought fine wine. In my case, I tended to prepare chocolate truffles, so all my my family enjoyed them as a dessert after eating the main dishes. Afrter that, we shared lots of gifts among us. One thing I liked about Christmas times was when Santa Clause was supposed to come to your house to deliver the gifts I asked him when I wrote him down a letter, that is the best memory I really appreciate when I was a little child.
We know that present facts are the most important ones because we need to be aware of what is happening at the moment. At present, I am a student from the Bachelor of Arts in English Language Teaching degree at the “Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes” I am in the third semester and I consider it as the beginning of my major because I realize that all the subjects I am taking are the ones who are really involved in the learning-teaching process. I really like what I am studying because I love teaching, it is my passion and I want to become a good teacher in order to transmit real and productive knowledge to my future students. I try to enjoy every moment I spend at the university. I get along well with my classmates and teachers; besides we have fun and we try to help each other in everything we need.
School and job are sometimes like water and oil; however, I really take advantage of working because is a way where I earn my own money and I do extra things for my own benefit. I usually work on weekend. I work in a restaurante called “Muerte Súbita” as a waitress and kithchen helper in the “Club Campestre de Aguascalientes” in which I have worked since August 2010. I love my job because I like attending my costumers, I enjoyed when they tell me they love my service, my attention to them and obviously when they enojoyed the food. The relation with my boss and my co-workers is pretty nice. We get along well and we always try to help each other when something is wrong. Until now, there have not been any big troubles. We are always smiling and joking and customers love us because we transmit a good rapport so that they are allowed to interact with us and being confident when talking with them. It is really interesting work in a restaurant although there are always certain aspects we do not like.
Prediting the future is not really good but making plans it is. I do not tend to predict what will happend in a certain period of time, but at least I try to plan thing I would like to do when I finish something. Regarding in studying a master is like a dream for me. Since I have been studying the BA in ELT, I have taken into consideration in studying a Linguistics master. Since I was a child, I fell in love with the structure of language, I love how language is formed, it means, everything that has to do with language so I am planning to study abroad. I would like to travel to England or somewhere I can continue my Teacher’s formation in order to be a succesful person and well prepared.
Travelling around the world is one of my other dreams. I enjoy when I sightseeing the every place I visit. One advantage of travelling is that you know plenty places around the world so that you might have an opportunity to work and live there. I expect travelling a lot so this is why I need to work hard in order to keep money and enjoy all the beautiful places there are around the Globe. I would like to travel to France. It is my favorite country because is too elegant and old. I like the way the French people speak, it is pretty romantic and voiced.
As we have seen, life is too long to share in two or three pages because it has a lot of experiences but if we analyze and think about ourselves, we conclude that everyone of us is the owner of our lives and we do all these things as we think because thoughts are presented by actions we want to happen. Enjoy every nice moment you have, remember your best memory as if it were yesterday and plan succesful things to fulfil good things in your life.

 MEMORANDUM

TO: English teachers from the “Instituto Alpes”
FROM: Main principal
DATE: September 2, 2011
SUBJECT: Third academic meeting

The purpose of this memo is to provide a summary of our Third academic meeting. The meeting is going to be on Monday, September 17.  This meeting is going to be focused on the use of projectors inside the English classroom. As you can see, our students need to be in the vanguard of technology so that they can interact with technological issues inside the classroom by doing activities that involve speaking, reading, listening, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation skills. In this way, teachers must totally agree in using those technological tools. I also want you to communicate that there is going to be a special training for using projectors inside our classrooms. During the meeting we are going to discuss this point and other ones that are really important in this new academic project. Although many of you do not agree with using projectors, I invite you to take it into consideration because is going to be a good opportunity to develop your teaching methods even the teaching process and students will be well-prepared when learning through technological activities.

Using projectors inside the classroom will be advantageous for the following reasons:
·         Students will be able to work through technology
·         Teachers will be able to design activities through technology
·         Students will be able to do presentations through the computer
·         Classes will be less boring and more interactive
·         Reducing time in class

I hope all the English teachers can attend to this meeting. It is important for you to be there in order to clarify doubts and comments you might have. I request you to consider this meeting and to participate as much as you can. You need to confirm your attendance before Tuesday, September 15. If you have any doubt, please feel free to inform me orally or in writing.

Thank you,

BELATED THANKS FOR A GIFT

Dear Mr. González,

Please accept my belated thanks for the delicious Serranos’ ham you brought for me from Seville, Spain! I had not had enough time to write before because I was really busy at school.
I really enjoyed a lot the Serrano’s ham. Last week I cooked dinner and I prepared “Spanish tapas”. All my family said that this was the Serrano’s ham they have ever tasted, so imagine the quality of this ham. I am planning to invite you and your family to my house to taste a special dish made with Serrano ham. It is going to be a nice gesture to have you in my home.
Thank you very much, Mr. González, for your concern and for your delicious ham.

Sincerely,

Karla Santacruz Sotomayor.

BEING A FRIEND THANK -YOU NOTE

Dear Cecilia,

This note says how much I appreciate your love and concern for listening to me the other day we went out to the coffee. I was really depressed about fighting with Mónica. I know we have not a lot of in common and it is silly to argue with her but I felt really angry about all the bad things she said.
However, you know how to get along with people and this is what makes you a good friend because your trust never fails. I also want to thank you for all the good advice you gave me, I really take it into consideration, so next time I am going to think what I am going to do in order not to fight again. It is great to have you as my best friend. I expect to have your friendship for many years.

Love always,

Karla
